Richard "Rich" Frazier— Retired Federal Civil Servant, Military Veteran, Golf Enthusiast, Junior Golf Advocate and Mentor serves as one of the first Board Members of the Black Heritage Tour (BHT) Golf Challenge, Inc. Rich, who was born 1948 in New York City moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the mid 60s where he later graduated from Edmondson High School in 1967. As a three - sport athlete (baseball, basketball and football) growing up, he was selected all MSA first baseman in baseball and received a scholarship to play at the University of Baltimore in Maryland. After studying in college for two years, Rich decided to enlist in the United States Air Force where he spent 4 years in civil engineering as a construction equipment operator. Upon proudly serving out his enlistment in the military, Rich returned back to school majoring in History and later received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at Bowie State University.  In 1973, Rich began his professional federal civil service career with the United States Census Bureau where he served as a Survey Statistician. At the Census Bureau, Rich performed services in the listing and procedures branch of the Demographic Surveys Division where he developed Annual Housing Surveys, National and Metropolitan Studies, Health Sample Surveys, to include Schools and Staffing Surveys. While working as a federal statistician, Rich became instrumental in the data collection for the aforementioned surveys which provided vital information for determining governmental policy throughout each decade. Moreover, Rich's contributory efforts with the redesign workgroups was indispensable with the new redesign of the surveys at the beginning of each decade. In 2006, Rich retired from the Census Bureau after 33 years of civil service and a total combined time of 37 years of federal service. Prior to Rich's retirement, he received a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University and was later awarded the Bronze Medal Award for Superior Federal Service from the Department of Commerce. According to Rich, after retirement and all of his sports' abilities fading, he took up learning how to play golf in 2008. Like many who experience learning to play golf, he immediately became addicted to the game. Moreover, Rich became so intrigued with the game of golf, he took a job working at a golf course to learn more about the game and to play free rounds to improve his skill level. Rich often proclaims his gratitude for learning to play the game of golf and the appreciation of all the different experiences to include meeting a wide variety of new people who are currently involved in the game of golf. In 2020, some of the aforementioned experiences lead to Rich's unanimous selection to serve as one of the first board members for the Black Heritage Tour (BHT) Golf Challenge, Inc. As a golf enthusiast, junior golf advocate and mentor, Rich plans to help our youth learn the game of golf and develop their personal skills such as integrity, honest and fair play that would guide them not only on the course but through life. Finally, according to Rich, he is very passionate about working with underserved children and more excited to lead guided tours to African American historical sites that he has enjoyed visiting over the years of his life throughout the Mid-Atlantic areas and to where the BHT Junior Golf Tour stops will be played.
